Privacy policy
Plain English, because that is how we do everything. This page explains what information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to ask us about it. Last updated October 31, 2026.
Who we are, and who answers for this
Fatal Exceptions Inc. is a computer repair, IT support, website and app development business in St. Albert, Alberta, operating since 2000. The owner is responsible for how we handle personal information and answers every question about it personally: call 780-906-7484 or use the contact page.
What we collect, and why
- Booking requests. Your name, email, phone, the service you want, the time you picked, and what you tell us about the computer. We use it to confirm the appointment, do the work, and contact you about it.
- Messages. Your name, email, phone if you give it, and the message, so we can reply.
- Reviews. Your name, town if you give it, and the review. A person reads it before it appears on the site. Your email is kept private and used only if we need to confirm the review is yours.
- Referrals. Your name and email, and the name of the person you sent us, so we can thank you both once their first job is done. We never contact the person you referred from the form.
- Repair work. To fix a computer we may need to see what is on it. We look only as far as the job needs, we do not copy your files unless a data recovery or transfer requires it, and working copies are removed when the job is done.
- Remote sessions. We connect only to a session you start, you watch the whole time, and nothing stays installed when it ends. We never ask for passwords, banking details or gift cards.
- Billing. Invoices and hosting records live in our billing portal, which has its own sign-in.
Website visitors
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used: pages visited, roughly where visitors are, what device they use. It does not tell us who you are. You can block it with any ad or tracking blocker and the site works exactly the same. We also count taps on our phone number and booking buttons, and requests sent, by the page they started on, so we know which pages help people reach us. Those counts hold no personal information.
- Hosting. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes visitor requests and keeps short-lived technical logs to deliver the site and stop abuse.
- Speed test. The speed test sends and receives test data through Cloudflare’s network. It shows you your own public address and location; we do not store it.
- Map and domain lookups. The contact page shows a Google map, and the domain page asks public registry services whether a name is taken. Those services see the request the same way they would if you visited them directly.
- Cookies. The site itself sets none. Google Analytics sets its own, and the dashboard we use to run the business sets a sign-in cookie for us, not for visitors.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent or trade your information.
- We never send marketing email you did not ask for. The emails you get from us are about your booking, your message, your review or your referral.
- We never look through personal files out of curiosity. The job defines what we open.
How long we keep it
Booking requests, messages and referrals are kept for as long as we need them to do the work and keep our records straight. Reviews stay on the site until you ask us to take yours down. Recovered or transferred data is removed from our equipment once you confirm you have it.
Where your information is kept
Our records live in Cloudflare’s systems, and our analytics in Google’s. Both are large providers with their own security standards, and both may store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws there. Alberta’s privacy law asks us to tell you this, and we do. Repair work itself happens in our shop in St. Albert.
How we protect it
Only the owner can open the records behind this site, through a sign-in protected by Cloudflare. Connections are encrypted. Working copies of customer data are removed when a job is done. If a privacy breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would tell you, and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, as the law requires.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will, unless a law requires us to keep a record of a transaction. You can also withdraw consent for anything we are not legally required to keep; that may mean we cannot finish a job that depends on it. Call 780-906-7484 or use the contact page. We follow Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s PIPEDA. If you feel we have not handled your information properly and we could not resolve it with you, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Children
Our services are for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through this site; a parent or guardian books for a child’s computer. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we remove it.
Links to other sites
Pages on this site link to Google Maps, Three Best Rated, TeamViewer, our billing portal and other services. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy covers only Fatal Exceptions Inc..
Consent
By booking, sending a message, leaving a review or referring a friend, you consent to us using that information for the purpose you gave it, as described here. By using the site, you accept this policy and our terms of service.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Nothing here changes what we agreed with you on a job already underway.
